The gathering ostensibly marked the anniversary of Le Pen’s National Rally (RN) achieving its best-ever vote share in European elections. However, it also served as a show of force for political factions emboldened by Donald Trump’s return to the White House and recent strong election results across Europe. The leaders aim to promote a different Europe.
Attendees included Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, Spain’s Vox party leader Santiago Abascal, and former Czech premier Andrej Babis. These figures belong to the Patriots for Europe faction within the European Parliament.
