Mymensingh Medical College Faces Challenges Without a Head
The Mymensingh Medical College (MMEC) has been operating without a principal for the past month, resulting in various administrative problems. The college is in need of a new headteacher to ensure the smooth functioning of its academic and administrative activities.
Dr. Abdul Quader, the former principal of Mymensingh Medical College, resigned from his position on August 22, citing personal reasons. The Department of Health subsequently canceled his two-year contractual appointment. However, no replacement has been appointed, leaving the college without a principal for over a month.
Rafiqul Islam, secretary of Mymensingh Medical College, confirmed that Professor Dr. Abdul Quader and Dr. Habibur Rahman Tariq resigned from their positions, citing personal reasons. Although the Department of Health accepted Professor Dr. Abdul Quader’s resignation, no new head has been appointed. Vice-Principal Dr. Habibur Rahman Tarek also submitted his resignation letter on August 26, but it has not been received by the Department of Health.
According to Rafiqul Islam, educational activities at the college are proceeding normally, but administrative work is facing some challenges due to the absence of a principal.
A professor from Mymensingh Medical College emphasized the need for a new principal to be appointed as soon as possible to ensure the smooth operation of the college’s academic and administrative activities. The professor noted that the absence of a principal for an extended period is unprecedented and may lead to a collapse in the organization’s chain of command.
Zahidul Islam, a student of Mymensingh Medical College, stated that while there are no problems with the college’s education, it is essential to appoint a competent headteacher soon to address the administrative challenges facing the institution.
