Israel Signals Readiness for Expanded Operations in Lebanon Amid Hezbollah Concerns
Increased Monitoring and Threat of Wider Conflict
The Israeli occupation army has confirmed an intensification of surveillance and tracking of hezbollah’s activities in recent days. On September 22,2024,Tel Aviv indicated its willingness too launch a larger operation in Lebanon “if necessary,” according to an Israeli security source who spoke on condition of anonymity. the source claimed Hezbollah is attempting to rebuild its capabilities, a situation Israel deems “unacceptable.”
The Israeli military believes intervention may be required if Lebanon does not take “practical steps” to disarm Hezbollah.The source further asserted that Hezbollah would be unable to effectively confront israel if a conflict were to erupt involving Iran.
Military spokesperson Avichai Adraei stated that since the recent ceasefire, the army has focused on preventing Hezbollah from re-establishing a threat to northern Israeli citizens and re-arming.Adraei alleges hezbollah is attempting to reconstruct infrastructure, including headquarters and hideouts, along the border, disguised within civilian areas.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf salam condemned a recent Israeli attack in Bint Jbeil, Nabatieh Governorate, southern Lebanon, which resulted in the deaths of five people, including three children. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on September 22, 2024, Salam characterized the incident as a “massacre” and a “flagrant violation” of international resolutions and humanitarian law.
Salam described the attack as a crime against civilians and an attempt to intimidate those returning to their villages in southern Lebanon. He called on countries sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to exert maximum pressure on Israel to halt its attacks,withdraw from occupied Lebanese territories,and release prisoners.
