Police, 2014-2015 call details of two people included in the investigation notice

It was revealed that Jeong Jin-sang, the former head of the political affairs coordination office in the representative office of the Democratic Party, who was closest to the leader of the Democratic Party Lee Jae-myeong, spoke with Kim In-seop, the former head of Tai Korea Technology, over 100 of times during the so-called ‘Baehyeon-dong development’ project.

According to political circles and investigative authorities on the 27th, the South Gyeonggi Police Agency’s Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Unit sent former CEO Kim to prosecution on the 18th on charges of violating the Serious Punishment Act , etc. of Specific Crimes The content of the phone call is known to have been confirmed.

Jeong and former CEO Kim reportedly made 115 calls over a one-year period between April 2014 and March 2015, when the Baekhyeon-dong development project was being pursued.

This is completely different from what Jeong has denied the allegations against him.

In October last year, before being arrested on bribery charges under the Serious Punishment for Specific Crimes Act, Jeong made a statement in a police summons investigation (first investigation) “Kim In-seop has never contacted with me about Baekhyun-dong’s business.”

Regarding his friendship with former CEO Kim, he made a statement to the effect that “we are not in regular contact.”

Unlike the first investigation, the police said that in the interrogation at the detention center earlier this month (second investigation), which was conducted on the arrested former boss Jeong, they continued the investigation by presenting a history year-long call with former CEO Kim .

Despite presenting the details of the call, former chief Jeong said, “It is true that there was a call with Kim In-seop, but it was a call to ask for his opinion.”

However, the police believed that former CEO Kim, who was another assistant to Lee, had been thwarted by several connections between the two around January 2015, when he was recruited by Asia Developer, a business operator.

The police applied for a preliminary arrest warrant for former CEO Kim on the 16th, taking all these circumstances into consideration.

However, the prosecution did not ask for a warrant from the court, citing the need for an additional review, and returned it to the police on the same day.

The police sent former CEO Kim to the prosecutor’s office on the 18th, believing that there would be no problem in proving the charges even from the contents of the investigation so far.

Subsequently, police arrested a total of 10 people, including CEO Lee, former chief Jeong, former Seongnam Urban Development Corporation planning headquarters director Yoo Dong-gyu, Asia Developer CEO Jeong Mo, and three city officials Seongnam who was involved in the project, who was accused of breaching the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Certain Economic Crimes (Breach of Duty) The case was transferred to the prosecution on the same day.

Accordingly, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office, which is investigating the allegations of corruption in the Wirye New Town and Daejang-dong development project, plans to immediately investigate allegations of preferential treatment in the Baekhyeon-dong development.

Representative Lee will attend the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on the 28th and receive an investigation into these cases.

A police official said, “The case of former CEO Kim, who was sent on the 18th, is still being investigated at the prosecution stage, so we cannot say anything. “The investigation is ongoing,” he said.
