Lee Kang-in, the 22-year-old rising star, is set to leave RCD Mallorca and join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in an upcoming transfer deal.

Renowned European football transfer market expert, Fabrizio Romano, announced on his personal social media account on February 2nd (Korea time), “The transfer of Lee Kang-in to PSG will be finalized soon. The player has already completed the medical examination, and a verbal agreement has been reached between the two clubs. The only remaining step is the official signing.”

According to Romano, Lee Kang-in is not the only player expected to make a move to PSG. Other players, including Luca Hernandez, Manuel Ugarte, Marco Asensio, Shereungdur, and Milan Skriniar, are also rumored to be joining the French club. The official announcements of these signings will likely follow the recent appointment of Luis Enrique as the new coach.

During the 2022-2023 season of the Spanish Primera Liga, Lee Kang-in shone as a key player for Mallorca. His impeccable dribbling skills, creative passing, and determination made him one of the standout performers. Lee ranked among the top players in terms of successful dribbles, only to be matched by talents like Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid, Lionel Messi, and Jeremy Doku of Stade Rennes.

Undoubtedly, PSG’s interest in Lee Kang-in intensified after their failed pursuit of Lionel Messi this summer. Initially, the deal between Lee Kang-in and PSG seemed uncertain, given the player’s previous links with Atletico Madrid. However, the breakthrough came with the agreement on the transfer fee between Mallorca and PSG, confirming the transfer.

Lee Kang-in rose to prominence after his appearance on the popular show “Fly Shooting Doll” and his subsequent development in the Valencia youth team. Despite facing relatively less attention during his time at Valencia, his career took off at Mallorca, where he earned a significant role and asserted himself as a key player.

It is worth noting that Lee Kang-in was awarded the Golden Ball at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland and made valuable contributions to the Korean national football team during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Reporter Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the European football transfer market, said on personal social media on the 2nd (Korea time), “The transaction for the transfer of Lee Kang-in to PSG will be completed soon. After the official announcement of the appointment of coach Luis Enrique, the players confirmed to be recruited will be announced one after the other.

In the 2022-2023 season, in the Spanish Primera Liga, Lee Kang-in played an active role as Mallorca’s ace. Desperation and creative passing, especially the dribbling, were high in the season. The only players with more dribbles than Lee Kang-in are Vinius Junior (Real Madrid), Lionel Messi, and Jeremy Docu (Stade Rennes).

PSG, who broke up with Messi in the transfer market this summer, showed interest in Lee Kang-in. Initially, after Atletico Madrid failed to sign, the move to PSG was rushed, but reports over the transfer were divided. However, with Mallorca and PSG agreeing a transfer fee, the atmosphere is certain.

Lee Kang-in became a hot topic for appearing in ‘Fly Shooting Doll’ and went on to the Valencia youth team. After that, he quickly broke into the first team at Valencia, but didn’t get much attention. However, in Mallorca, he gradually secured his position and established himself as a key player.

Meanwhile, Lee Kang-in won the Golden Ball at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, and played an active role in the Korean national football team at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
