The documentary, announced by Sony Music Vision, will feature rarely seen videos, photos, and audio recordings from Streisand’s personal archive. Oscar Award-winning documentary producer Alex Gibney will serve as producer, having worked on films about Paul Simon and Steve Jobs.
“I have been thinking for years about the best way to share the vast amounts of content I have stored safely in my vault,” Streisand, 82, said in a statement. “These masters of film, photography, and music that the public has never seen or heard hold my most precious memories. I am very pleased that producer Alex Gibney and director Frank Marshall have agreed to go on this journey with me.”
“The Streisand film will demonstrate why she has remained so popular,” Marshall said in a statement. “She will be an icon to audiences of all generations around the world.”
Sony Music Vision is partnering with Columbia Records, Streisand’s longtime record label, to present and distribute the project.
