Lessons, lectures, drums and more… This is how Albanian Muslims spend the month of Ramadan!

Muslims in Albania, southeastern Europe, are preparing to welcome the holy month of Ramadan by distributing some informational booklets and brochures, showing the virtue of the holy month over other months.

Also, imams of mosques provide some lessons and lectures, the focus of which is the virtue of the month of Ramadan.

They also prepare places for performing Tarawih prayers, which witness a distinguished attendance and general interest.

When the month of Ramadan begins, the sounds of drums are heard in various places in Albania. The process of beating drums on the night of Ramadan is not limited to the periods of suhoor and iftar, but rather continues in some areas during the day for a day or two, in rejoicing and joy at the arrival of the holy month.

Some Albanians walk the streets playing the lodra, a homemade cylindrical drum with two ends covered with sheep or goat skin.

Collective breakfasts are common in northern and central Albania, where there is a large presence of Muslims.
