LG U+ Revolutionizes Communication: Introducing the Powerful Iksi Spam Filter to Tackle Unwanted Messages
LG U+ Strengthens Spam Message Management with AI Technology
LG U+ has taken a significant step in preventing damage from financial fraud caused by illegal spam messages. The company has applied its ’ixi spam filter’ system, which utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to filter out spam messages from mobile communication networks.
How the Ixi Spam Filter Works
The AI-based ixi spam filter was developed by LG U+ to reduce the increasingly sophisticated sending of illegal spam messages. The AI model learns spam report data received from the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and provides a function to block spam messages before customers receive them. According to a company official, the filtering accuracy of illegal spam messages has increased to over 95% since the introduction of the system.
Expanded Management of Malicious Messages
The types of malicious messages subject to management have expanded to include investment spam, such as stock reading rooms, in addition to existing categories like illegal loans, smishing, gambling, adults, and illegal drugs. LG U+ has also implemented a sanctions policy that blocks the sending number and requests an explanation from the business that sent the message, even if only one spam message is sent.
Strengthened Supervision of Resellers
To prevent resellers from being abused as a conduit for sending spam messages, LG U+ has strengthened supervision of resellers who send bulk text messages using the company’s network. Resellers who have not used the service for the past six months are subject to a policy that limits the number of messages that can be sent to once a month.
Results and Future Plans
According to an LG U+ official, the number of spam message reports decreased by 10% last month compared to the monthly average in the first half of the year, thanks to the strengthened spam message management policy. The company plans to prevent damage from financial fraud by installing an on-device AI-based voice phishing detection solution in its call agent ‘ixi-O’, scheduled to be released next month. This will build a comprehensive defense system that protects customers on both text messages and calls.
Commitment to Customer Protection
“We will safely protect customers from illegal spam through AI technology and establish a faster and more accurate response system,” said Hong Gwan-hee, head of the LG U+ Cyber Security Center (CISO, executive director). “We will utilize various innovative technologies such as AI and security technology to ensure that customers can use telecommunication services with peace of mind.”
