Liepāja’s Randiņu Izsole Returns in 2025

Mark Your Calendars: Liepāja‘s Unique Randiņu Izsole Returns in 2025

Liepāja’s distinctive social event, Randiņu Izsole, is set to return on February 7, 2025, at Tipogrāfijas Radošais Kvartāls. This unconventional gathering, now in its fifth year, offers Liepāja residents a refreshing way to meet new people and support a worthy cause – the Liberta animal welfare association.

Randiņu Izsole, the brainchild of local artist and seamstress Edīte Padāne, is an auction-like event where participants ‘bid’ for the chance to spend time with someone who piques their interest. But worry not, romance isn’t the only outcome Edīte hopes for. "Getting to know a new person, supporting Liberta, or simply stepping out of your comfort zone are all valid reasons to join," she says, with a hint of laughter.

The event has gained traction over the years, with around 10 participants each year – five men and five women – signing up. Some are bold enough to volunteer themselves, others are coaxed by friends, and some simply attend to lend their support. Whatever the reason, they all contribute to an engaging atmosphere and, more importantly, a significant donation for Liberta.

In the past four years, Randiņu Izsole has raised a collective €657.74 for Liberta, but the impact extends far beyond financial aid. For Liberta’s representative, Ildze Leimante, the event is a way to connect with like-minded individuals and draw attention to the organization’s mission. "Randiņu Izsole is a brilliant opportunity to meet new people, gain new experiences, and knowing that the proceeds go to helping animals just seals the deal," Ildze says.

Ildze emphasizes that Liberta operates solely on donations, and they could use all the help they can get. With the recent legal changes, they’re now working towards obtaining official shelter status. "We’d greatly appreciate any form of assistance, be it monetary, supplies, or practical items like food, toys, or bedding," Ildze adds.

The upcoming Randiņu Izsole promises to be an exciting event, with local businesses such as Edite’s sewing studio, Radi Vidi Pats, VĒJŠ Cafe, Energy Duck, Miezis & Co, and Portions Unlimited showing their support. With a €5 entrance fee, the evening includes a cash bar, and all proceeds will go directly to Liberta.
