Ligue 2: reactions after the victory of SM Caen (1-2) against Bastia

Stade Malherbe Caen is 5th in Ligue 2 after its 2-1 victory against Bastia on Tuesday. Here are the reactions of the SM Caen players and the coach, Nicolas Seube.

NICOLAS SEUBE, SMC coach: A team with two faces. We knew the strengths of this team, Bastia quite logically opened the scoring. The score could have been larger at half-time. In the second half, we finally managed to be present. Split and be close to the ball carrier. It’s a reaction team that knows how to react quite well. We had made choices on the starting 11, decisive entrants. I’m satisfied, winning away is always difficult. We could also have killed the match at the end. Obviously, I hope that they realize their capacity. This championship remains very open, I keep telling them. I’m not getting excited, what matters to me is that the series continues. I hope that we will give a soul back to this club and that the public (at Ornano against Troyes on Saturday) will continue to push.

MATHIAS AUTRET, middle of the SMC : It’s the kind of victory that unites the group even more. We are already united, but that plays into it. Victories that feel good, especially against a great Bastia team. The series is crazy, especially when we see where it comes from, we don’t want it to end at all. The entrants make differences, we need everyone.

Hianga’a Mbock, mid-SMC : I’m back with the group, a starting place and the victory, it feels really good. I had difficulty readjusting to the environment at the start of the season, but the progress is pretty good now. If the coach is satisfied, so much the better, he asked for more aggressiveness. My performance is mixed, but it’s never easy to come here to Bastia. I am still in the search for efficiency and to optimize my abilities, it is not easy to manage expectations like that, on a daily basis.

Mickaël Le Bihan, SMC striker : We are still holding on to victory, there are not many teams that can come and win here. Whether it’s young people or older people, there’s a good group. I work for the team, I try to give my best. It was a match in which it was more about fighting than playing football. The team was good, the most important thing is the three points. We must not get excited, but always aim higher.
