Lim Hyeok-baek, chairman of the Nomination Management Committee, announced the results of the fifth screening this afternoon, announcing 12 single-nomination regions and 4 primary regions.

As a single-nominee district, the Democratic Party has 4-term lawmaker Ahn Gyu-baek in Seoul’s Dongdaemun-gap, first-term Supreme Council member Jang Gyeong-tae in Dongdaemun-eul, former vice president of the Democratic Research Institute Nam Young-hee in Incheon’s Dong-Michuhol-eul, re-elected Supreme Council member Park Chan-dae in Incheon’s Yeonsu-gap, and 3 in Daejeon’s Seo-gu-eul. It was announced that Congressman Park Beom -gye would only be mentioned once.

Subsequently, first-term lawmaker Kang Jun-hyeon from Sejong-eul, second-term lawmaker Song Ok-ju from Hwaseong-gap, Gyeonggi-do, first-term lawmaker Heo Young from Chuncheon, Cheorwon, Hwacheon and Yanggu- gap in Gangwon-do, first-term lawmaker Lim Ho-seon from Jeungpyeong, Jincheon and Eumseong in North Chungcheong Province, and first-term lawmaker Moon Jin-seok from Cheonan-gap, South Chungcheong Province. Personally nominate Representative Kang Hoon-sik for re-election in Asan-eul and former Nonsan Mayor Hwang Myeong-seon for Nonsan, Gyeryong and Geumsan.

Among those who received special nominations, there were many who were considered “pro-Myung faction” within the party. Supreme Council member Park Chan-dae is known as one of Representative Lee Jae-myung’s closest associates, and Representative Moon Jin-seok belongs to the “Seven Members” Association, a group of lawmakers close to Representative Lee Jae -myung. Nam Young-hee, former vice president of the Democratic Research Institute, and former Nonsan mayor Hwang Myeong-seon were also cited as representatives of pro-Myeong outsiders. MP Ahn Gyu-baek, who serves as chairman of the Strategic Appointments Management Committee, is also classified as a pro-Myung faction.

Key areas include a two-horse race between Rep. Ki-hyung Oh and former Blue House Speaker Kang Min-seok in Dobong-eul, Seoul; a two-horse race between MP Jong-sik Heo and Ho-beom Son, former public relations director of the Hyundai Steel branch of the Korean Metalworkers Union and Ongjin Gang and Ganghwa in Incheon. A three-way primary will be held between former Supreme Council member Lee Dong-hak and former Incheon City Council member Cho Kwang -hwi, and former Incheon City Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs Cho Taek-sang , and in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, a three-way primary will be held between former 2nd Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation Kim Kyung-wook, former regional president Park Ji-woo and former president regional Maeng Jeong-seop.

President Lim Hyeok-baek announced that on this day a resolution was passed to designate Mapo-gap in Seoul, Dongjak-eul in Seoul, Uijeongbu-eul in Gyeonggi-do, Gwangmyeong-eul in Gyeonggi-do and Hongseong-Yesan a Southern Chungcheong Province as ‘strategic regional districts’.

Among them, active members of the Democratic Party include Rep. Noh Woong-rae from Mapo-gap, Seoul, Rep. Lee Su-jin, former judge, from Dongjak-eul, Seoul, Rep. Kim Min-cheol from Uijeongbu-eul , Gyeonggi-do and Representative Yang Ki-dae of Gwangmyeong-eul, Gyeonggi-do. When the diplomatic committee decided that this area was a strategic district, it was claimed that legislators active in the area would effectively be cut off. Rep. Noh Woong-rae and others immediately held a press conference and stated their position: “This is unacceptable.” Representative Lee Soo-jin announced her withdrawal from the party.
