Little Island Recovery and Haulage announced that it will cease its haulage services on the 31st of October due to rising fuel prices, The Irish Sun reported. The County Cork family-run transport firm, established in 2020 by founder Roy Kearney of Kearney’s Coaches, stated that extortionate fuel prices and the current economic climate forced the decision to shut down the logistics side of the business.
Little Island Haulage Ceases Operations Due to Fuel Prices
The company confirmed the closure through a public statement on social media, noting that all commercial haulage vehicles and trailers are up for sale with immediate effect. Since its inception, the logistics branch has completed over 3,500 jobs across more than 45 countries, serving clients throughout Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Despite a broad service footprint spanning international borders, company bosses acknowledged that the market pressures became insurmountable.
Unfortunately due to the extortionate fuel prices and current climate our haulage side will cease trading on the 31st of October. Thank you!

Sister Company Recovery Services Remain Operational
While the cross-border freight and haulage division is winding down at the end of the month, the enterprise’s sister business will continue normal operations. Little Island Recovery will maintain its 24-hour towing, roadside assistance, and vehicle rescue services throughout Cork and surrounding regions. Management expressed gratitude for the widespread public support received following the announcement, emphasizing that the closure was forced upon them by external economic factors rather than choice.
Industry Reactions Highlight Wider Sector Strains
One local commenter warned that the shutdown represents only the first of many
such announcements in the logistics sector. Another contributor on social media added that operators fought hard to urge government action on fuel costs to prevent job losses.
We fought hard to bring down fuel, we told the government that jobs would be lost if they didn’t act and I’m sorry to say we are right.
