Chinese solar technology manufacturer LONGi shipped 29.93 gigawatts of solar modules during the first half of 2026. The performance positions the firm among global market leaders by shipment volume and secures the top global position in solar panel shipments for the period.

LONGi Ships 29.93 Gigawatts in First Half

The commercial milestone underscores accelerating global investment in renewable energy infrastructure. Alongside these module shipments, the company is pivoting toward integrated energy platforms that combine generation, storage, and digital management.

Cairo Launch Introduces LONGi ONE

The company formally introduced its LONGi ONE energy storage systems to the Egyptian market during an event in Cairo. The rollout expands its portfolio beyond individual solar panels into integrated generation, storage, and energy management solutions.

Fares Anas, North Africa Sales Director at LONGi, stated that the new systems combine solar power generation, battery storage, and digital energy management for industrial and commercial users, large-scale projects, and microgrids.

Efficiency Rates and Local Partnerships

According to Anas, the systems achieve an efficiency rate of up to 93.5%, with scalable battery capacities ranging from 104 kilowatts to 6.25 megawatts.

The Cairo gathering drew representatives from more than 13 Egyptian companies and organizations, including Orascom and Hassan Allam. Renewable energy developers, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firms, investors, and government representatives also attended. During the event, LONGi signed memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements with local firms Restech and Egypta.

Egypt’s 2030 Renewable Targets

Egypt represents a critical strategic market. The government pursues targets to increase renewable sources to 42 percent of the national electricity mix by 2030.

This expansion is expected to elevate demand for battery storage and technologies that enhance grid flexibility. Anas noted that the solar sector is increasingly shifting toward integrated systems that combine power generation with storage and smart load management rather than solely adding generation capacity.

Harsh Climate Engineering and Industry Awards

LONGi reports that its solar modules reach efficiencies of up to 24.8 percent. Products supplied to the regional market are engineered to operate under challenging conditions, including high temperatures, humidity, dust, and corrosion.

In recognition of these technical developments, LONGi received the PV Module Technology Leader Award from Solarabic and Terrapinn, the organizer of the Solar & Storage Egypt 2026 exhibition. The company plans to expand its presence across Egypt through additional partnerships as investment in solar power and energy storage continues to rise.
