[인사이드비나=이영순 기자] L’Oréal Group announced on the 13th that it has achieved a AAA rating for the 8th consecutive year in the 2023 evaluation of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

CDP is an international non-profit environmental organization that encourages the disclosure of corporate environmental data and evaluates the efforts and performance of companies in seeking transparency, and is considered an indicator for evaluating the sustainability and transparency of companies worldwide.

L’Oréal explained that it is the only company in the world to have received an A grade in all three environmental areas of CDP, including responding to climate change, protecting forests, and protecting water resources, for eight years consecutively. Among the 21,000 companies evaluated in 2023, only 10 companies, including L’Oréal, achieved A grades in all three sectors.

The evaluation results of CDP, which has the world’s largest environmental database, are used in investment and purchasing activities aimed at zero carbon, sustainability and a stable economy.

As of 2023, more than 740 financial institutions holding assets worth $136 trillion have asked companies to disclose information such as environmental impact, risks, and opportunities through the CDP platform, and 23,000 companies responded.

CDP assigns scores from A to D to companies based on its proprietary methodology, which evaluates the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks, as well as best practices in environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful goals . An F grade is given to companies that do not disclose information or do not have enough public information.

Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of the L’Oréal Group, said, “We have set ambitious sustainability goals to be achieved by 2030, and we have been able to achieve unparalleled results thanks to the dedication and collaboration of many employees of the L’Oréal Group. and partners.” “We will continue to work together as a community to tackle the environmental and social challenges we all face.”
