Many subjects impersonating “hot girls” to defraud and appropriate property have been arrested by the authorities. For example, in October 2023, Bac Giang Provincial Police arrested Nguyen Van Huy (26 years old, in Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province) to investigate property theft.

According to the authorities, Huy used the Facebook account “Thuy Moon” with a profile picture of a young, beautiful girl and then befriended Mr. S. to get to know, flirt, and accept love… Then , Huy asked Mr. S. to send sensitive pictures or make a video call, but Huy did not turn on his camera. After that, Huy saved these images and videos and threatened to post them on social networks, blackmailing Mr. S.
The victim, out of fear, transferred 3 million VND and had to buy Huy an iPhone 7.
Although the trick is not new, many gullible people still fall into the traps of scammers.
