Seoul, October 10, 2023 – In a disappointing end to the season, the Lotte Giants faced a defeat against the LG Twins, losing their chance to progress to the fall baseball championship. Despite their efforts, the team finished the season with a record of 6 wins and 10 losses.

Starting pitcher Lee In-bok struggled in the last game against the LG Twins, lasting only four innings and allowing a total of 7 runs, with 6 of them being earned. His performance ultimately contributed to the team’s downfall.

Lotte fans will have to wait until next year for a chance at fall baseball, as this marks the team’s sixth consecutive season without advancing to the postseason. With the final result of the season, it is clear that the team will not be able to move forward, irrespective of the outcomes of the remaining 5 games.

Lee In-bok’s shortcomings were evident from the beginning of the game. In the first inning, he allowed consecutive hits to LG’s third baseman Kim Hyun-soo and Austin’s fourth baseman, putting the team in a difficult position. Although he managed to handle the situation momentarily, it didn’t take long for Lee to give up runs. He gave up a double and a triple to Kim Hyun-soo and Austin in the fourth inning, resulting in another run for LG. A sacrifice RBI by Oh Ji-hwan further added to their score.

The Lotte Giants struggled to find their footing at the plate against LG pitcher Son Joo-young. Despite getting on base multiple times in the first four innings, the team failed to score any runs. As the game progressed, Lotte faced tough competition from Jung Woo-young and Yoo Young-chan, preventing them from making a comeback.

Following Lee In-bok’s departure from the mound, relief pitchers Jin-ha Lee, Sang-ho Seok, and Kim Do-gyu tried to salvage the game. However, their efforts fell short, and the Giants were unable to score any runs throughout the game.

Despite the disappointment, Lotte fans remained dedicated, providing unwavering support to the team during the entire game.

Looking ahead, Lotte’s last home game of the season will take place against the Doosan Bears at Sajik Stadium in Busan on October 11th.

The Lotte Giants professional baseball development into the 2023 fall baseball season was blocked. Lotte will once again attempt to advance to fall baseball in the 2024 season.

Lotte lost 0-7 in the last game of the 16th game of the season against the LG Twins held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 10th. With this loss, Lotte could not advance to the 2023 postseason, which would advance to 5th place, regardless of the results of the remaining 5 games out of 144 games this season. With this loss, Lotte was out of fall baseball for six consecutive seasons starting from the 2018 season.

Lotte suffered a loss in the last game against LG as starter Lee In-bok failed to complete 5 innings and collapsed, giving up 7 runs (6 earned runs), and the batting lineup was quiet.

Starter Lee In-bok gave up consecutive hits to LG third baseman Kim Hyun-soo and Austin fourth baseman in the first inning, but escaped the crisis by handling the ensuing batter Oh Ji-hwan with a grounder. Lee In-bok seemed to have regained his sense of stability by handling the second and third innings with a three-way hit.

However, Lee In-bok gave up his first run in the 4th inning. Lee In-bok gave up a double and a triple to Kim Hyun-soo and Austin in succession, allowing one run. Lee In-bok gave up one more point by allowing an RBI sacrifice to Oh Ji-hwan.

The crisis caused by Lee In-bok continued with Moon Seong-ju stepping down. Moon Seong-ju tried to steal second base, and due to catcher Yoo Kang-nam’s mistake in throwing to second base, he reached third base. Even Kim Hyun-soo got on base because of a catching error by first baseman Han Dong-hee. Lee In-bok had to come down from the mound with no outs on first and third base. Lee Jin-ha, who took the mound after Lee In-bok, gave up a sacrifice fly and a strikeout, allowing two extra runs.

Lotte’s batting line was tightly tied with LG pitcher Son Joo-young. Lotte managed to get on base every time from the 1st to the 4th inning, but did not hit a follow up shot and did not score. After that, Lotte was blocked by LG pitchers Jung Woo-young and Yoo Young-chan and was unable to score chase points.

For Lotte, Jin-ha Lee pitched the 5th inning (1 inning), and Sang-ho Seok pitched the 6th and 7th innings, 2 innings. Kim Do-gyu came up in the 8th inning and pitched one inning allowing no runs.

Lotte failed to score in the top of the 9th inning and lost 0-7. Lotte fans enthusiastically supported the Lotte players in the top of the 9th inning, regardless of the outcome of the Lotte game.
