Carmona City teams Up with LTO to Boost Road Safety Through Data Sharing
Carmona,Cavite – In a move aimed at enhancing road safety, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the city of Carmona in Cavite have inked a groundbreaking interconnectivity agreement. This partnership will empower local traffic enforcers with crucial data, enabling them to effectively enforce traffic laws and hold erring motorists accountable.

LTO chief Assistant secretary Vigor Mendoza II emphasized the meaning of this collaboration, stating, “We in the LTO cannot enforce road safety laws alone, especially outside Metro Manila. We need the LGUs (local government units) and like the city government of Carmona, it has been doing very well in assisting the national government in it’s goal of making the roads safe for everybody.”
The agreement allows Carmona City to share information about traffic violations with the LTO. This data can then be used to identify and hold accountable motorists who evade local traffic enforcers.
“Erring motorists who escape traffic enforcers, he said, could later be identified if thier licence plate is obtained. The LGU of Carmona City could send us the information and in return, the LTO could issue a show cause order to the registered owners of vehicles that violated traffic rules and regulations,” Mendoza explained. This initiative aligns with Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista’s commitment to road user safety and the LTO’s newly launched “Stop Road Crash” program.
The memorandum of agreement and data sharing agreement for the LTO-LGU Interconnectivity Project was signed by Mendoza, Carmona City Mayor Dahlia Loyola, LTO-LGU Interconnectivity Project chairperson Noreen Bernadette San Luis-Lutey, and LTO Region IV-A Regional Director Elmer Decena in Carmona City.
