Madonna’s new single “Bring Your Love,” featuring Sabrina Carpenter, is a defiant message to the artist’s critics, according to producer Stuart Price. The track appears on the album Confessions II, released Friday July 3, and focuses on rejecting industry pressures and doubters.
Stuart Price, who produced the record and previously helmed the 2005 Confessions on a Dance Floor LP, told Attitude that the song isn’t a typical happy pop track. He described the core message as a “fuck you” to those who doubt Madonna’s choices and career.
Price noted that doubting Madonna is a recurring challenge she’s faced throughout her career. He explained that the song serves as a direct response to those who don’t understand her motivations.
What is the meaning behind “Bring Your Love”?
The song centers on resilience and defiance. In the chorus, Madonna and Carpenter sing, “Bring your love ’cause you cannot shake me/ Bring your love ’cause you’ll never break me/ Bring your love ’cause you cannot take me down.”

Price told Attitude that the lyrics are intentionally ambiguous to allow for different interpretations. He suggested the track could represent a shared experience between Madonna and Carpenter in the music industry or a specific reflection of Madonna’s sense of what it’s like to be doubted and to be a fighter.
Madonna provided additional context during a TikTok interview this week. She said she felt pressured by others to focus on popularity, streaming numbers, and algorithms.
“A lot of people were in my ear, saying, ‘You should do this, you should do that, you should make this kind of a song’, forcing me to focus on what’s popular, algorithms, following trends, and I found it to be the antithesis to art and creativity, so I was struggling with that paradox.” — Madonna
The artist highlighted the lyric “don’t try to distract me with numbers,” stating she prefers storytelling over tracking streaming data while writing.
Why did Madonna collaborate with Sabrina Carpenter?
Price stated that Carpenter was a natural fit because of her open admiration for Madonna. He noted that Carpenter viewed Madonna as an idol and expressed a desire for a similar career path.
The collaboration was also a strategic choice to create curiosity and a “talking point” for the album. Price compared this to the 2005 hit “Hung Up,” which used ABBA as a conversation point.
He told Attitude that while the two artists have different paths into music, the collaboration only worked because of a genuine connection between them.
How is “Confessions II” being received?
NME gave the album a four-star review, describing it as a “thrilling return to the dancefloor.” The publication claimed Madonna has made her most vital album in over two decades by drawing from her personal and musical past.

The release was supported by a series of promotional events. Madonna and Price hosted “Club Confessions” listening parties in Los Angeles, Paris, and London, following a brief live performance in New York City’s Times Square last month.
Confessions II follows Madonna’s 2019 album Madame X.
What other projects are planned for Madonna?
Madonna is confirmed as a co-headliner for the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show. She’ll perform alongside BTS and Shakira.
Additionally, the artist has teased a potential bill-topping slot for the Glastonbury Festival in 2027.
