Caracas, venezuela – Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has formally requested the extradition of opposition figure Dinorah Figuera from spain, accusing her of stealing Venezuelan assets.

During a televised address, Maduro alleged that Figuera, who currently serves as president of the opposition-controlled National Assembly elected in 2015, and other exiled parliamentarians had increased their salaries by 40%. he claimed thay now receive $10,000 per month, including opposition leader juan Guaidó.

“I don’t know if Venezuelan justice has requested Dinorah Figuera from the Kingdom of Spain to request her extradition in compliance with extradition treaties,” Maduro stated. “Just as we extradite criminals to those countries, we recently extradited a drug trafficker to France. We are asking for her extradition so she can face justice for robbing Citgo, the gold in London, and accounts worth more then $20 billion from Venezuela.”

Maduro’s accusations come amid ongoing tensions between his government and the opposition, which controls the 2015 National Assembly. The opposition argues that the assembly remains the legitimate legislative body, despite Maduro’s claims that it is indeed defunct.

The Venezuelan president vowed that those he labeled “conspirators” would face justice. “they will pay for it in due time,” he declared. “Be assured. the Venezuelan state will grow stronger, and justice will reach this band of conspirators.”

figuera has not yet publicly responded to Maduro’s accusations.

A Tense Standoff

The situation has sparked debate among Venezuelans both at home and abroad.

“This is just another attempt by Maduro to silence his opponents,” said Maria, a Venezuelan living in Miami. “He’s using these accusations to distract from the real problems facing venezuela, like the economic crisis and the lack of basic necessities.”

David, a Venezuelan-American living in New York, expressed concern about the potential consequences for Figuera. “It’s scary to think what could happen to her if she’s extradited to Venezuela,” he said.”Maduro’s regime has a history of human rights abuses.”

The international community is closely watching the situation unfold. Many countries have expressed concern about the erosion of democracy in Venezuela and have called for the release of political prisoners.

It remains to be seen whether Spain will comply with Maduro’s extradition request. The case is highly likely to be a long and complex legal battle, with significant implications for the future of Venezuela.

Venezuela Seeks Extradition: What’s Going On?

Elena: Hey David, did you hear about the latest news from Venezuela? Apparently, Maduro wants to extradite an opposition leader back from Spain!

David: Realy? Wow, that’s intense. What’s the whole story?

Elena: So, Nicolás Maduro is requesting that Spain extradite Dinorah Figuera. She’s the president of the opposition-controlled National Assembly, the one elected back in 2015.

David: Hold on, I thought Maduro was in charge? What’s this about an opposition assembly?

Elena: It’s a long story, but basically, there’s been a power struggle going on for years. Maduro claims the 2015 assembly is defunct, but the opposition insists it’s still the legitimate legislative body.

David: Sounds complex. Why does Maduro want Figuera extradited?

Elena: He’s accusing her and other exiled members of the assembly of stealing Venezuelan assets. He claims they’ve been increasing their salaries, getting paid $10,000 a month, and that they’re responsible for siphoning off billions of dollars.

David: Whoa, serious accusations! do you think they’re true?

elena: Honestly, it’s hard to say. Maduro has a history of making these kinds of allegations against his opponents.

David: You mentioned assets – Citgo, gold, and accounts?

elena: Yes, he specifically referenced these. He said Figuera was involved in robbing Citgo, which is a Venezuelan oil company, and accessing Venezuelan gold stored in London, along with accounts holding more than $20 billion.

David: That’s a huge amount of money! What’s Figuera saying about all this?

Elena: She hasn’t publicly responded to the accusations yet.

David: This must be really scary for her, knowing she could be extradited. What happens next?

Elena It’s definitely a tense situation. the Spanish government will have to decide whether to comply with maduro’s request. If they do, it could lead to a lengthy legal battle with significant implications for Venezuela’s future.

David: I really hope Figuera is safe. It seems like a dangerous game of political chess in Venezuela.

Elena: Agreed. It’s a complex and worrying situation for sure.
