Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, currently detained, has retained prominent criminal defense attorney barry Pollack to represent him in a narco-terrorism case brought in a U.S. federal court in New York, Bloomberg reported on January 4, 2024.
The indictment, unsealed on January 3, 2024, accuses Maduro, his wife Celia Flores, and others of narco-terrorism, conspiring to import cocaine into the United States, and possessing weapons and “destructive devices.”
pollack’s Experience with High-Profile Cases
Barry Pollack is well-known for his long-standing depiction of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. He recently secured a plea deal for assange in 2024 related to leaking classified information that impacted U.S. national security.
