MUMBAI: Malayali cricketer Vishnu Vinod will miss the IPL season 2024. Vishnu, who shone with cameo performances last season for Mumbai, is yet to play this season. Mumbai Indians left the player injured in his left hand. In a statement, the Mumbai Indians said they hope Vishnu’s injury will be cured as soon as possible.

Vishnu Vinod, aged 30, is a native of Pathanamthitta. Vishnu has also played for Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. Saurashtra wicketkeeper-batsman Harvik Desai has been selected to replace Vishnu in the Mumbai team. The player made his domestic debut in the 2018-19 season and was a member of India’s U-19 World Cup winning team.

Harvick scored the winning runs for India in the final of the U19 World Cup 2018. The 24-year-old will join the Mumbai Indians team soon, the club said in a statement. After completing four matches in the IPL, Mumbai have managed to win only one match so far. The team led by Hardik Pandya is in the eighth position with two points. Mumbai will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the match on Thursday.
