Mallorca defeats Real Sociedad and qualifies for the Spanish King’s Cup final

Mallorca defeated its host Real Sociedad on penalties to qualify for the Spanish King’s Cup final after a marathon match on Tuesday evening.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Giovanni Gonzalez leading the visitors in the 50th minute, and Sociedad equalizing with a goal by Mikel Oyarzabal in the 71st minute.

Sociedad player Bryce Mendes missed a penalty kick in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half.

The match extended into extra time and then penalty kicks, with the two teams tied in the first leg without goals at Mallorca Stadium on February 6.

In the penalty shootout, Mallorca prevailed 4-5 to qualify for the final of the Spanish King’s Cup, awaiting the winner of the second semi-final match between Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid, tomorrow, Thursday.

Bilbao has a relative advantage in qualifying for the final match thanks to its 1-0 victory in the first leg, which was held at Atletico Madrid Stadium.
