Man Dies After Car Crash Into Shop in Co Tyrone

Coalisland Shop Collision Results ‍in Fatality

A‌ 71-year-old⁣ man, identified as Gerard “Jock” Rafferty of Coalisland, County Tyrone, has died following a collision involving a car and a shop ‍on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

According to ​a statement from the Police Service of ​Northern Ireland (PSNI), officers⁣ responded ​to a report at approximately 12:20 PM of a vehicle‌ impacting a commercial property on ⁢Moor Road and ​striking⁣ a pedestrian. Emergency​ services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, were dispatched to the ⁤scene.

Mr. Rafferty was transported to a hospital but⁣ was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. ‌

Moor Road remains closed between Washingbay Road and Gortgonis Road as of 21:03 GMT on January 28, ⁢2026.

Collision ⁤Examination Underway

Chief Inspector Simpson of the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Police are appealing for witnesses and ⁢any digital ‌footage related to​ the incident.
