Coalisland Shop Collision Results in Fatality
A 71-year-old man, identified as Gerard “Jock” Rafferty of Coalisland, County Tyrone, has died following a collision involving a car and a shop on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
According to a statement from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), officers responded to a report at approximately 12:20 PM of a vehicle impacting a commercial property on Moor Road and striking a pedestrian. Emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, were dispatched to the scene.
Mr. Rafferty was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Moor Road remains closed between Washingbay Road and Gortgonis Road as of 21:03 GMT on January 28, 2026.
Collision Examination Underway
Chief Inspector Simpson of the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Police are appealing for witnesses and any digital footage related to the incident.
