Torino’s Schurs, Juventus’ Bremer, and Fulham’s Adarabioyo identified as top candidates for recruitment; Dyer, Sanchez, and Tanganga likely to be released.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglu, hailing from Australia, has expressed his recommendation to Chairman Daniel Levy regarding the recruitment of three central defenders for the team. This development comes amidst anticipation of significant changes in the central defender position for the upcoming season in the English Premier League (EPL).

According to prominent British football media in London, Coach Postecoglu, alongside senior scout Leonardo Gabanini from Italy, has carefully selected three potential candidates for recruitment. Postecoglu has made it clear to Chairman Levy that these three individuals are vital additions to the team’s defensive line and the recruitment process is currently underway.

Tottenham had been relying on the contributions of Eric Dyer (29, England), Japhet Tanganga (24, England), and Davidson Sanchez (27, Colombia) as regular central defenders in the previous season. However, with the recent arrival of Mickey van de Pen (22, Netherlands), changes were expected in this area of the team. Coach Postecoglu has already entrusted Van de Pen, along with Christian Romero (25, Argentina), to play as central defenders in the team’s last two league games. Sanchez’s substitution during the opening game against Brentford on August 13th was due to Romero’s injury.

Currently, Postecoglu aims to recruit new central defenders after parting ways with Sanchez, Dyer, and Tanganga. The top three targets identified for recruitment are Per Schurs (24, Netherlands) from Turin, Glaison Bremer (26, Brazil) from Juventus (the current leaders of Italy’s Serie A), and Tosin Adarabioyo (26, England) from Fulham (EPL).

Schurs, who joined Turin from Ajax in Erebidish, Netherlands, last August, quickly established himself as a regular starter, playing 28 league games last season as Torino secured a respectable 10th position. Schurs has attracted interest from other English teams such as Arsenal and Liverpool.

Bremer made the switch to Juventus from Turin last summer, coinciding with Schurs’ arrival. Enjoying a successful season, Bremer played in all 30 games as a starter, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist. He has also received international recognition, being selected for the Brazilian national team. However, it is reported that Bremer intends to remain with Juventus and continue his fruitful spell rather than pursuing a new challenge in the EPL.

Adarabioyo emerges as Tottenham’s primary target for recruitment. Standing tall at 196 cm, he joined Fulham in 2020 and has already showcased his talents in 58 EPL matches. In the previous season, where Fulham finished 10th in the league, Adarabioyo featured in 25 games, both as a starter and as a substitute, playing a vital role in the team’s success. Tottenham views the acquisition of Adarabioyo as a sensible move due to his relatively low market value.

However, Adarabioyo prioritizes first-team opportunities, and AS Monaco from Ligue 1 are reportedly pursuing his signature by offering more favorable terms than Tottenham.

In a recent press conference, Coach Postecoglu expressed his thoughts on the squad’s current size, stating, “The team is slightly overpopulated, which affects the training process and the players themselves.” He emphasized the importance of organizing the squad effectively and forming a cohesive force rather than merely engaging in one-for-one recruitment.

It was reported that manager Enze Postecoglu (58, Australia) of Tottenham Hotspur (England Premier League, EPL) suggested the recruitment of three central defenders to Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy (61, England).

According to London Football British media on the 21st (local time), coach Postecoglu recently selected three central defenders from the list of candidates for recruitment along with senior scout Leonardo Gabanini (43, Italy). Coach Postecoglu told President Levy that he needs these three people, and is currently in the process of recruiting them.

Tottenham were anticipating a major change to the central defender position this season. While Mickey van de Pen (22, Netherlands) had just joined, Davidson Sanchez (27, Colombia), Eric Dyer (29), and Japhet Tanganga (24, England), who had been playing regularly until the last season, more or less on the position list has risen.

Although it is still early in the season, coach Postecoglu sent Van de Penn and Christian Romero (25, Argentina) as central defenders in the last two league games, respectively. Sanchez was substituted in the opening game against Brentford on the 13th, but that was due to Romero’s injury.

Currently, Postecoglu is looking to recruit three candidates after getting rid of Sanchez, Dyer and Tanganga.

These three are Per Schurs (24, Netherlands) playing in Turin, Glaison Bremer (26, Brazil) from Juventus (top of Italy’s Serie A), and Tosin Adarabioyo (26, England) from Fulham (EPL).

Among them, Schurs moved to Turin from Ajax in Erebidish, Netherlands, in August last year. Although it was his first year on the move, he was a regular starter, starting 28 league games, as Torino finished 10th last season. Schurs is currently interested in Arsenal and Liverpool.

Bremer moved to Juventus from Turin last summer when Schurs joined. Last season, he played 30 games as a starter without a substitute, scoring 4 goals and 1 assist, showing good results, and he is also named to the Brazilian national team. However, as Bremer leads a settled life at Juventus, it is known that he wants to stay with the current team rather than take on a new challenge in the EPL.

Adarabioyo is the player Tottenham want to sign the most. A tall man with a height of 196 cm, he started playing for Fulham in 2020 and played 58 EPL matches. Last season, when he finished 10th in the EPL, he played 25 league games (2 substitutes) and played an active role as a de facto main player. Tottenham also analyze that Adarabioyo’s market value is not high and see him as a prudent recruitment.

However, Adarabioyo is prioritizing opportunities to play in the first team, and AS Monaco (League Ang) are said to be promoting the recruitment by offering better conditions than Tottenham.

Meanwhile, coach Postecoglu said in a press conference after taking up his post, “The current squad is a bit too big. This situation affects the training process and even the players themselves.”

He said, “It won’t be like sending one person out to recruit one, but the focus right now is on organizing the squad and forming a proper force,” he said.
