Mannar: Mannar police have arrested a young woman who was cheating people by accepting money as deposit. Bijukuttan’s wife Rashmi Nair (40) was arrested from Kulanjikararma Valiyakulangara Shanti Bhawan in Mannar. The accused was arrested in the complaint relating to theft of nine and a half lakh rupees from Thyesamma Xavier, a resident of Cherthala.
A small sum was paid as interest on the money deposited for the first four months. No more money has been paid since then. Then a complaint was lodged with the Mannar police. Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested from Ernakulam in a detailed investigation conducted by Mannar police.
According to police, cases are pending against Rashmi Nair for committing similar scams outside Kerala in Telangana. The accused was arrested by Mannar police inspector B Rajendran Pillai led by SI Sanish TS, ASI Madhusudanan, Madhu, female ASI Swarnarekha and civil police officer Hariprasad. The accused was produced in court and remanded for trial.
