Mark Wright has apologized for what he called a poorly timed social media post about air travel, following a devastating Air India plane crash in Gujarat, India. The Air India flight, en route to London’s Gatwick Airport, crashed shortly after takeoff, killing at least 241 people. among the passengers were 53 British nationals.
Wright, 38, posted a photo of himself, his wife Michelle Keegan, and thier daughter in front of a private jet. The now-deleted caption referenced flying in economy, saying, “1 day babe, for now we’ll take row 26 with no extra leg room.”
Social media users quickly criticized the post as insensitive, given the tragic news. Wright soon removed the image.
Wright addressed the controversy in an Instagram story, explaining that the post was pre-scheduled and went live automatically. “I apologise for a post I just put up on my page after today’s heartbreaking events,” Wright stated. “It’s a horrendous coincidence that today’s post was on such a devastating day.”
He added,”Once I logged in to my Instagram and realised the post had gone out,I instantly deleted. My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected from today. I’m sorry for this mistake and any offense caused.”
