Masatoshi Omori 2024 FIM Flat Track World Championship Round 3 UK Race Report (August 29, 2024) | BIGLOBE News
Unfortunately, he was eliminated from qualifying due to an unfortunate machine trouble and a penalty for two jump starts, which affected his points gains. However, he added two points to his annual rider ranking and keeps his hopes alive for the next round in France.

Masatoshi Omori, the only Asian rider competing in the FIM Flat Track World Championship, the most prestigious race in the world of flat track, participated in the third round held in the UK on August 24th as a factory rider for the ZAETA CORSE TRICOLORE TEAM. The race took place in King’s Lynn, a traditional trading town about 160km from London. The temperature was cold, which was unusual for August, and the rain continued until the evening, forcing all the riders to fight on a track with conditions that were far from favorable. The race in King’s Lynn was the first in the history of the FIM Flat Track World Championship, and it was also Omori’s first challenge on the course.
Omori was unlucky to have machine trouble from the beginning of the heat race. After an oil leak from the crankcase due to an external impact was confirmed, the problem was not fixed in time for the start of the second heat race, and unfortunately he was unable to earn points for that heat due to time running out. After that, the machine was safely repaired and he was able to participate in the remaining heat races, but perhaps due to impatience, he was penalized for jumping starts twice (false starts) and had to start from the back of the penalty line. As a result, he was unable to qualify for the final race and finished 19th overall. Having barely managed to earn two rider points in this race, he will use his disappointment as a springboard for the next round in France.

Looking back on the race, Omori commented as follows.
“Round 3 of the Flat Track World Championship was a race on a course I had never ridden on before. It had been raining since the morning of the day of the race, so the course was muddy and although we carefully repaired it before the start, the conditions were a little slippery. We also had an oil leak from our machine’s engine, so we had to keep an eye on it during the race. We hope to make improvements for the next race in France.”
Giulio Bernardelle, representative of his team, ZAETA CORSE TRICOLORE TEAM, also commented as follows:
“The King’s Lynn race was another disappointing result for our team. Masa unfortunately had a technical issue caused by a stone hitting the left-hand engine crankcase which slowed him down. We will continue to improve and hope that the hard work we have put into the development of the ZAETA project will pay off.”
