Matthews as ‘Messi of the future’; Welcome Musiala | ‘Messi of the Future’; Musiala’s days are coming

Despite Germany’s disappointing performance in the World Cup, 19-year-old Jamal Musiala is gaining the attention of the football world. Germany’s attack focused on the youngster in their 1-1 draw against Spain. He was also the one who opened the way for Germany’s only goal. The star’s performances in the last two games have underlined that he is Germany’s promise for the future. Pass accuracy was 84 percent against Spain on Sunday. Crosses completed 100 per cent.

Born in Stuttgart to a Nigerian-German couple, Musiala grew up playing through the academy of English club Chelsea. After playing for England at youth level, he returned to his hometown in 2019 at the age of 16 in a Bayern shirt. There is a contract until 2026.

Former Germany captain Lothar Mathews describes the star as ‘the Messi of the future’. “He can be the Messi of the future, he’s fantastic,” 1990 World Cup winner Matthews told BBC Sport. “I have loved him for the last two years, his style of football and his personality. He has great passing ability, he is good at thinking. Musialak can be the next Messi. He has a great passion for football. I’ve been a big fan of his since I met him two years ago,” said Mathews.

Musiala is reminiscent of Messi when he gets the ball at his feet. He has a unique ability to break any lock and get out. He also provides excellent goal support with passes that scatter opposition defences. Musiala is Bayern Munich’s youngest goalscorer and Germany’s second youngest goalscorer.

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said of the player, “Jamal Musiala is considered one of the most talented young players. He is a big player along with Gavi, Jude Bellingham and Pedri. I believe the he will grow and surprise Germany during the World Cup.”

Former German captain and coach Jurgen Klinsmann says, ‘I think Musiala is the best player in Germany. There are many wonderful elements in it. He is not afraid. He is a great young player who has grown through the Bayern system. This is his first World Cup and he will grow more and more’.

The hope of football fans is that Musiala will be Messi’s successor in the future with his excellent speed and dribbling skills.
