Omaha,Neb. – Kade anderson delivered a masterful performance on the mound Saturday night, pitching a complete-game shutout as LSU defeated Coastal Carolina 1-0 in Game 1 of the Men’s College World Series Finals.The LSU Tigers now hold a crucial advantage in the best-of-three series,fueled by Anderson’s dominant pitching and a timely hit from Steven Milam.
Anderson, a potential first-overall pick, showcased his best stuff, especially late in the game. After walking two batters in the first, the Tigers managed to score a run in the bottom half. Derek Curiel walked, advanced on a fielder’s choice, and then scored on a single to center field by shortstop Steven Milam. That single proved to be the game’s only run.
Coastal Carolina, who entered the game on a 26-game winning streak, struggled to solve Anderson. The Chanticleers’ right fielder Blagen Pado faced Anderson in the eighth with a runner on first. Anderson painted the outside corner with his 114th pitch, a 95-mph fastball. He then froze Pado with a 94-mph fastball for strike three.
