MD CAT Results in Limbo: Landmark Court Verdict Throws Future of Aspirants into Uncertainty
Islamabad High Court Halts Release of MD CAT Results
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University has been barred from releasing the results of the MD CAT exam.
Islamabad High Court Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir has issued a 3-page order, stating that the university should not release the re-test results until further notice.
The court has issued notices to the Ministry of Health and other parties, scheduling a hearing for September 26. The order emphasized that the court was informed that the university had not yet declared the results, prompting the Additional Attorney General to immediately notify the university of the stay order.
Students who took the CAT MD exam had approached the Islamabad High Court, arguing that the papers from other states were significantly easier, resulting in many students scoring over 190 marks. However, their paper was off-syllabus, which greatly impacted the results.
A student recounted that when the paper was released, everyone was shocked to see the questions. There were over 20 questions that were out of the syllabus, and to make matters worse, the corrected ‘key’ provided was also incorrect.
The students alleged that when their parents visited the university to raise concerns, the vice-chancellor left through a back door and even called the police. Meanwhile, the registrar was seen laughing while standing there.
The students are demanding a re-examination for the MD CAT exam.
