Meet the German Entrepreneur Who’s Found the Secret to Success: 70 Hardworking Employees from Bosnia and Herzegovina
German Construction Entrepreneur Relies on Workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina
Matthias Regner, a 60-year-old construction entrepreneur from Germany, credits workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina for the success of his company. With 130 employees, 70 of whom are from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Regner’s company, Projektbau Matthias Regner GmbH, relies heavily on foreign labor.
The shortage of skilled workers in Germany has forced entrepreneurs like Regner to look abroad for talent. He began hiring workers from Eastern Europe seven years ago and later expanded his search to the Western Balkans.
Regner praises the work ethic and motivation of his employees from Bosnia and Herzegovina, stating that they are “very hard workers, incredibly motivated.” He notes that they receive the same salaries and social benefits as their German colleagues and perform their jobs professionally and with high motivation.
The arrangement is mutually beneficial, with workers spending three to four weeks in Germany followed by a week’s rest at home. Regner acknowledges that he will continue to need new workers, particularly a manager who speaks fluent German.
Regner also highlights the challenges of attracting young people to the construction industry, which he believes is a lucrative but difficult job. He hopes to make the profession more appealing to young people in the future.
