Melissa George to Lead Crime Dramedy ‘Ms. X’ in New Zealand

Melissa George, known for her role in “The Mosquito Coast,” will star in “Ms. X,” a new crime dramedy commissioned by Warner Bros. Finding’s Tv3 in New Zealand. The series, a fast-paced crime thriller, is set to begin production June 2 and is slated for release next spring.
The show centers on a suburban mother, played by George, who enlists the help of a former high school friend to deter her husband from infidelity. However, their plan takes a dark turn, plunging her into a criminal underworld involving law enforcement, a cartel, and a ruthless parent-teacher association. The role of the suburban mom is a departure for George, but one that promises to showcase her range.
Hannah Marshall and David de Lautour, both New Zealanders, created and wrote “Ms.X.” De Lautour will also direct. Gareth Williams, Marshall, and De Lautour will executive produce for Plus6Four Entertainment. Kelly martin will executive produce for South Pacific Pictures, and Daniel March for Dynamic Television.
Dynamic Television is co-producing and managing worldwide distribution. Funding comes from NZ On Air and the NZ Screen Production Rebate.
“Ms. X is a darkly comic look into the New zealand criminal underworld, that blends our unique brand of kiwi humour with a twisting crime story, made specifically for a global audience,” said Marshall, executive producer and showrunner.
George’s previous credits include “The Mosquito Coast” on Apple TV+, HBO’s “In Treatment,” for which she received a Golden Globe nomination, and roles in both the Australian and U.S. versions of “The Slap.” She also appeared in the film “Peaceful” with Catherine Deneuve. Her extensive filmography also includes ”Mulholland Drive,” “Amityville Horror,” and “The Eddy.” This new crime dramedy will add another dimension to her already impressive Melissa George role portfolio.
