Minnesota state rep. Melissa Hortman,55,and her husband,Mark,are dead following a shooting in Champlin,Minn. Mark Hortman died at North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale. Melissa Hortman died at the scene, according to the medical examiner.

Authorities are seeking 57-year-old Vance luther Boelter in connection with the shooting, law enforcement sources said.

Melissa Hortman represented minnesota House District 34B, which includes Brooklyn Park, Coon Rapids, and Champlin. she was a member of the Democratic Party and served as Speaker Emerita of the Minnesota House.
Hortman was first elected in 2004 and was serving her 11th term. She leaves behind two children.
