The Washington Household Counseling Center, under the leadership of Chairman Joey ‍Park, will present a special​ seminar series titled ​”Mental Health Waybina, Counseling” throughout May. ‍The series coincides with the celebration of Asia-pacific Cultural⁢ Heritage and Mental Heritage Month.

Webinar Details

The webinars, designed to promote mental health awareness and ‍address mental health concerns, will be​ held every Tuesday in May (the 6th, 13th,‌ 20th, and 27th).

Seminar Schedule

  • May 6: “Travel to the East and West Counseling”
  • May​ 13: “Get Acquainted with counseling”
  • may 20: “Our Couple Health Checkup” (limited ‌to​ five couples)
  • May 27: “Our Couple ⁤Health Checkup”

Expert Speakers

the seminars will be led ⁢by ‌Dr. Cheon shin Taylor, director of the counseling center, and Catherine Etton, Executive of the ⁣Maryland Counseling Association. Dr. Taylor is also a counseling professor⁤ at Liberty University and an advisor to the American ⁤Counselor Association.

Addressing​ Counseling Perceptions

Dr. Taylor ⁢stated, “Many people are curious about counseling. While awareness is growing, barriers remain, including negative​ cultural views and language obstacles. I hope this series can help lower those prejudices.”

“What are many⁢ people counseling? The perception‍ of counseling is increasing, but the walls of counseling ‌are still high, and the negative view of ‘psychosis’ in our culture for a long time‌ is interlocking with language and cultural barriers. I hope you can lower your prejudice.”

Registration Information

The first two sessions are free of charge. The third and fourth sessions cost $35 per couple, which ​includes a marital health check measurement. The ⁣Prepare/Enrich scale,‍ a marital health assessment tool developed‍ in ⁣1977, is used globally, including in Korea.
