Mercedes-Benz Partners with Tesla, Introduces Fast Charging Stations Worldwide

Mercedes-Benz Commits to Adopting Tesla’s NACS Charging Standard

German automaker Mercedes-Benz has announced its decision to join Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), bolstering the ranks of electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers embracing this standard.

In a recent report by The Verge, it was revealed that Mercedes-Benz has made a commitment to introduce Tesla’s NACS EV charging connector to its vehicles from 2024 onwards.

Starting from 2024, Mercedes-Benz will provide customers with an adapter that enables the use of Tesla’s renowned Supercharger Station. Furthermore, by 2025, the luxury automaker will begin manufacturing electric cars equipped with Tesla charging ports.

Various other automakers, including Ford, GM, Volvo, Polestar, and Rivian, have already adopted Tesla’s NACS, further establishing Tesla’s dominance in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure market.

As Mercedes-Benz implements Tesla’s NACS, the company plans to integrate it into its global network of electric vehicle charging stations, which includes North America. With over 400 electric vehicle charging stations and more than 2,500 fast chargers in North America alone, Mercedes-Benz aims to leverage the reliability, penetration, and uptime of Tesla’s Supercharger network.

Tesla’s Supercharger network has long been considered superior to many other electric vehicle charging stations. Originally exclusive to Tesla owners, the company has recently introduced an open policy, allowing access to non-Tesla electric vehicles primarily in Europe. Moreover, with Mercedes-Benz’s adoption of Tesla’s NACS as the next-generation charging standard, Tesla’s leadership position in the industry has further solidified.

According to the IT media The Verge on the 7th (local time), Mercedes-Benz (hereinafter referred to as Mercedes-Benz) has promised to introduce Tesla’s NACS EV charging connector to Mercedes-Benz vehicles from 2024.

From 2024, Mercedes-Benz will provide an adapter so that customers can use the Tesla Supercharger Station. In addition, from 2025, Mercedes-Benz will start producing electric cars equipped with Tesla charging ports.

Other automakers such as Ford, GM, Volvo, Polestar and Rivian have also adopted Tesla’s NACS, bringing Tesla one step closer to dominating the field of electric vehicle charging.

As Mercedes-Benz introduces Tesla’s NACS, it plans to apply it to its network of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle charging stations around the world, including North America. Mercedes-Benz has 400 electric vehicle charging stations in North America, with more than 2,500 fast chargers.

Tesla’s supercharger network is believed to be superior to many other electric vehicle charging stations in terms of reliability, penetration and uptime.

The Tesla Supercharger was initially only available to Tesla owners, but is allowing access to non-Tesla electric vehicles, mostly in Europe. With such an open policy and the adoption of Tesla’s NACS as the next generation charging standard, Tesla’s position has been further improved.
