Mercedes F1 “If Porsche enters, make concessions for the benefit of F1″[F1-Gate .com]

Mercedes F1 says Porsche is ready to make concessions to open the door to enter F1 in 2026.

Ferrari F1 team representative Mattia Binotto has questioned the Volkswagen brand being welcomed in F1 but making a rule change to level the field in 2026.

But the Mercedes F1 is different.

When asked how much regulatory advantage the Mercedes F1 would give up to open the door to German rival Porsche, Daimler CEO Ora Kerenius gave a surprising answer.

“Usually I say,’We have an advantage, so we want to keep it,’ but in this case you need to think bigger,” said Ora Kerenius.

“We are discussing a new regulation that will greatly simplify the components of the combustion engine. To do this, we will improve the performance on the electrical side.”

“If a manufacturer like Porsche wants to compete in F1 in this situation, we welcome it for the benefit of the sport,” added Ora Kerenius.

In the fierce 2021 F1 title battle between Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and Max Verstappen of Red Bull Honda, Ora Kerenius admits that regaining Verstappen’s 19-point advantage is “tough” for Hamilton.

“But as a racer, I will fight until the final race,” said Ora Kerenius.

“And one thing is certain: the duel between Lewis and Max is the best show we’ve seen in the last few years.”
