Miami Dolphins Activate Isaiah Wynn, Waive Lester Cotton, and Sign Zach Triner

November 25, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor World

The Miami Dolphins made two key roster moves. They activated offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn from the physically unable to perform list. Additionally, they waived offensive lineman Lester Cotton.

The Dolphins also released long snapper Tucker Addington from the practice squad. They signed long snapper Zach Triner to take his place on the practice squad.

Isaiah Wynn has played 50 career games, starting 47 of them. He played with New England from 2019 to 2022 and joined the Dolphins in 2023. Last season, he started seven games at left guard. Wynn helped the Dolphins lead the NFL in total offense and passing offense. The New England Patriots selected him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft after his college career at Georgia.

Lester Cotton has played in 42 career games, with nine starts during his time with Las Vegas and Miami. He played two postseason games with the Dolphins and started one as left guard in 2022. Cotton entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He played at Alabama and was a regular starter on the 2017 national championship team.

How does‌ Zach Triner’s experience enhance the Dolphins’ special teams compared to Tucker ⁣Addington?

Interview with NFL Specialist on Miami Dolphins Roster⁤ Moves

Interviewer: Thank you for⁤ joining us ⁢today. The⁢ Miami Dolphins have made some‍ interesting roster ⁢decisions recently, notably activating Isaiah ‍Wynn and waiving Lester Cotton. What do you think these ‍moves signal about the team’s strategy moving forward?

Specialist: Thanks for having me. Activating Isaiah Wynn ⁤is⁤ a significant endorsement of his⁣ abilities, especially given his experience and past performance with the New England Patriots. Having started 47 of 50 career games, he brings stability to an offensive ⁣line that aims to protect their quarterback and enhance the rushing game. His contribution to the Dolphins’ offensive ⁤success last season ‍speaks volumes about ⁣his potential impact.

Waiving Lester Cotton, on the other hand, suggests that ‍the Dolphins are looking to optimize their offensive line further. While⁢ Cotton has experience and has played in‍ pivotal ⁢games, including the postseason, the team may ⁣believe they can upgrade at that position.

Interviewer: Wynn’s career has ‌seen him play a vital role with the⁣ Patriots. How ⁢do⁢ you envision his role evolving with the Dolphins compared to his time in New England?

Specialist: In‍ Miami, Wynn might ‍find himself in a ‍position that emphasizes versatility. He made a significant impact as a left guard last season, helping the team lead‌ the NFL in total offense. With ‍the Dolphins’⁤ offensive scheme favoring mobile quarterbacks‌ and quick throws, Wynn’s agility and athleticism will be crucial. I wouldn’t⁤ be surprised⁣ to see him also contributing to the running game, given his‌ ability to move well at the line of scrimmage.

Interviewer: The Dolphins also made changes at the long snapper position ⁤by ⁤releasing Tucker Addington and signing Zach Triner. What ‍does⁢ Triner bring to the⁤ table, considering his‍ experience?

Specialist: Zach Triner has a wealth of ‍experience, having appeared in 81 games over six seasons, ⁣primarily with Tampa⁤ Bay. His consistency ⁤has been evident throughout his career, and his⁢ previous experience with different⁣ teams contributes to his adaptability. Special teams’ performance is essential, and having someone like Triner, who understands high-pressure situations, could prove beneficial for the Dolphins as they navigate‍ the upcoming season.

Interviewer: Speaking ‍of Tucker Addington, what do you think⁤ contributed to his release from the practice squad?

Specialist: Addington’s journey has been challenging, with a limited number ⁤of games⁤ played⁤ over four seasons. The‍ Dolphins‌ likely⁤ saw an opportunity to upgrade their‍ special teams roster depth with Triner, who offers proven experience⁤ at the NFL level. Competition is‌ fierce, especially‌ in practice squads, where teams continuously evaluate players to find⁢ the best fit for their system.

Interviewer: Lastly, what should fans of the Dolphins keep an eye on moving forward with these roster changes?

Specialist: Fans should look for⁢ improved offensive coordination, especially with ⁢Wynn back ⁤in⁣ action. The cohesion on the offensive line ⁣will be crucial for⁣ their success. Additionally, watch how Triner integrates into the special teams unit;⁤ effective performance in this‍ area can greatly impact field position and, ultimately, the games. ⁤these moves indicate a commitment ⁣to strengthening the ⁢roster‍ for a competitive season ahead.

Interviewer: Thank ⁤you for ⁣your insights. It appears ⁢the Dolphins are gearing up for ‍an exciting ‌season!

Specialist: Absolutely, it’s going to be‍ an interesting ride.

Tucker Addington has played in 10 career games over four seasons, with teams including New England, Washington, and Miami. He entered the NFL in 2022 as a free agent with Dallas, later joining the practice squad. He also played for the Houston Gamblers in the USFL.
