Michael Wynn Jones, the husband of celebrity television chef Delia Smith and former honorary life president of Norwich City Football Club, has died at the age of 85. Norwich City confirmed that he passed away peacefully at his home on Monday morning.

Wynn Jones began his career as a journalist, working for publications including the Daily Mirror and The Spectator. It was at the Mirror Magazine in 1969 that he met Delia Smith while serving as the publication’s deputy editor. He was responsible for giving Smith her first professional role as a cookery writer, and the pair married two years later.
Beyond his journalism career, Wynn Jones founded his own publishing company. His connection to Norwich City was long-standing, dating back to his first attendance at a match in April 1955 at the age of 13. He later documented his fondness for the club, including their 1959 run to the FA Cup semi-final.

Wynn Jones and Smith lived near Stowmarket in Suffolk for many years.
