Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to Revoke Credentials of Fake Independence Activists

Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to Review Credentials of Independence Activists

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has recently announced its decision to revoke the credentials of individuals falsely claiming to be independence activists. In an effort to ensure the authenticity of these activists, the ministry plans to verify their achievements. It will also undertake a careful review of the credentials of those activists who have been subject to controversy with North Korea.

Amongst the individuals whose credentials may be re-examined are the father of former lawmaker Son Hye-won and the parents of former Liberation Chairman Kim Won-woong. This announcement is expected to generate a significant wave of public interest and attention.

Since its commencement in 2019, the comprehensive census to assess public achievements of independence fighters has only covered about 25% of the 16,000 subjects. The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has committed to expediting this full investigation and revoking the ruling if any false independence activists are identified.

Kim Geun-soo and Jeon Wol-soon, parents of former Liberation Chairman Kim Won-woong, are amongst those whose honors may be re-evaluated. Both were awarded the Order of Merit in 1990, but doubts have been raised regarding the accuracy of their meritorious record.

In addition to scrutinizing the credentials, the ministry has also expressed its intention to reassess the contributions of independence activists who have been associated with controversial “pro-North Korean activities.” This includes examining whether their actions genuinely contributed to the establishment of the Republic of Korea.

One notable figure to undergo this public review is the late Son Yong-woo, the father of former lawmaker Son Hye-won. His prior involvement with the Joseon Communist Party led to six rejections before finally being awarded the Order of the National Foundation in 2018.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs acknowledges the need for caution and careful handling when considering alterations to the merit standards in their policies. It is important to prevent any potential bias or perception of favoritism in recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of socialist independence activists.

Contrary to their decision to re-evaluate the credentials of certain individuals, the ministry also recognizes the merit and demerit of individuals like Cho Bong-am and Kim Ga-jin. It remains imperative to maintain a fair and objective approach to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation’s independence efforts.

Overall, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs’ initiative aims to ensure the integrity and legitimacy of the credentials of independence activists. By diligently reviewing their achievements, the ministry seeks to uphold the honor and reputation of those who have truly dedicated their lives to the independence of Korea.

The subject of the re-examination of the honors may include Kim Geun-soo and Jeon Wol-soon, the parents of former Liberation Chairman Kim Won-woong.

Both were awarded the Order of Merit in 1990, and claims have been made that the record for meritorious service is false.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs also announced that it would look again to see if the independence activists who were controversial for their ‘pro-North Korean activities’ actually contributed to the establishment of the Republic of Korea.

It is known that the subject of a public review will include the late Son Yong-woo, the father of former lawmaker Son Hye-won.

Mr. There is a story of working in the Joseon Communist Party after his release, so his request for the award was rejected 6 times, and in 2018 he was awarded the Order of the National Foundation.

It is noted that changes to the merit standards in the policy of the Department of Patriots and Veterans Affairs should be handled carefully.
