A fatal incident in Golden Valley resulted in a woman being charged with criminal vehicular manslaughter after a man died late Friday, according to police. The Golden Valley Police Department responded to the scene around 11:50 p.m. near Hwy. 100 and Duluth Street.
Assistant Police Chief Rudy Perez stated that while initial reports suggested a road rage incident, the individuals involved knew each other. The victim was reportedly driving erratically when another occupant in his vehicle attempted to get him to stop.
Perez said the man then exited the vehicle and was struck by the suspect’s car. Emergency responders initially revived the victim, but he later died from his injuries. Other occupants of the vehicles were taken to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale for evaluation.
The suspect, a woman in her 40s, is now in custody facing charges of criminal vehicular manslaughter. Police have not yet released the names of either the suspect or the victim. Authorities are awaiting toxicology reports as part of the ongoing inquiry into this vehicular manslaughter case.
