MLA Groom drowns without getting married; Fiance files complaint with police – Odisha MLA | wedding

Bhubaneswar: A fiance has lodged a complaint with the police against an Odisha MLA for not attending her wedding. Somalika Das’s girlfriend has lodged a complaint against BJD MLA Bijay Shankar Das from Tirtol in Jagatsinghpur. The marriage was to be registered on June 17 at the Sub-Registrar’s office in Jagatsinghpur.

Somalika arrived on time but neither Bijay Shankar Das nor his family members arrived. Somalika waited for about three hours. The next day, he lodged a complaint against the MLA and his relatives at the Jagatsinghpur police station. According to the complaint, Bijay Shankar Das’ uncle and others conspired to prevent him from getting married. Somalika said she was cheated on and did not pick up the phone. They also alleged that Bijay Shankar Das’ relatives and family members were threatening him.

The MLA, however, denied the allegations. ‘By law, it is sufficient to get married within 90 days from the date of marriage registration. There are still 60 days left. I have not received any information from anyone regarding the registration of marriage on that day, ”he said.
