Rajkot: The girl’s father hacked to death the accused who abducted and raped a minor girl. The incident took place in Rajkot, Gujarat. The deceased has been identified as Vijay Mera, 32, of Kanaknagar. The accused, who was released on bail, was hacked to death by the girl’s father and his friend on Thursday night on Sant Kabir Road in Rajkot.
Vijay was hacked to death by his father and his friend on a bike on Thursday night while sitting with a friend. The girl’s father and his friend were arrested following a complaint lodged by Vijay’s brother Ashwin Mehr. CCTV footage of the incident has also been released.
In October 2020, the girl’s father had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Vijay had abducted his minor daughter. He later filed a habeas corpus petition in the Gujarat High Court. Subsequent investigations found the two in March 2021 from Junagadh. Vijay was arrested and charged with torture. Vijay, who has been in jail since then, was released on bail a few weeks back.
