Mainland China this year has seen the strengthening of Typhoon “Bebigia” from typhoon level to severe typhoon level early this morning. Already today, at around 7:30 am, it arrived at a wharf in Lingang New Town, Pudong, Shanghai, and continued to move from west to north after landing. Heavy to heavy rain is expected in parts of central Anhui, central and southern Jiangsu, Shanghai, and northern Zhejiang until tomorrow morning.
Cylch Cyfyng Television News reported that more than 100 people in Shanghai have been relocated and resettled, with over 41,400 people affected. Early morning, Shanghai implemented closed controls on all highways in the city, and all bus lines in Fengxian District will be temporarily suspended today. Shanghai city has over 2,500 rescue teams, 5,600 emergency personnel, and 415 flood control material warehouses on hand, with the public safety department putting first-level services in place. Over 1,200 fire and rescue chiefs and firefighters have been mobilized and are on hand to take precautions.

The Central Meteorological Observatory announced this morning that the typhoon red warning is still being issued. The meteorological observatory said that for the first time this year, Typhoon ”Bebigia” has been strengthened from typhoon level to severe typhoon level early this morning. At around 7:30 am, it made landfall in Lingang New Town, Pudong, Shanghai, with the strongest wind near the center when it made landfall, reaching level 14 (42 m/s). The lowest central air pressure is 955 hectopascals. Bebigia also excels as the strongest typhoon to make landfall in Shanghai since 1949.
