More than 2,000 households in Bucheon apartment complex power outage… “The cat touched the high-voltage line”

A cat entered the substation of an apartment building in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do and touched a high-voltage line, cutting off electricity to 2,000 households.

The Korea Electric Power Corporation announced that the electricity supply to an apartment complex in Sang-dong, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do was cut off at around 8:50 am on the 2nd, and it was restored in about two hours.

Due to the power outage, electricity did not come to 1,300 households in the apartment complex, and residents were unable to use heating appliances in the cold.

In addition, electricity was cut off at the same time for 900 households in another complex connected nearby, and it was restored about 40 minutes later.

A KEPCO official said, “It is estimated that a cat went into the apartment’s own facilities and touched the high-voltage line, causing a power outage.”
