An incident occurred in Paris, France, where a local man spat on a Muslim woman wearing a hijab. This man is causing public outrage by continuing this behavior even after being aware that the video was recorded.

Moroccan influencer Fatima Saidi claimed through her TikTok account on the 21st (local time) that she suffered racial discrimination during a recent visit to Paris, France.

On the 17th, Saidi stopped on the pavement with a friend near the Eiffel Tower in the affluent 7th district of Paris to look up a map on his mobile phone. Meanwhile, a middle-aged man jogging past was said to have spat on her hijab.

Saidi said, “At first, I didn’t understand (the situation) and I couldn’t believe it,” and “My friend said it was normal and familiar, but what on earth does normal mean?”

He chased after the man who spat on him, filmed the video, and told him to “spit again.” The man then swore with his finger and spat again at the camera. It was a situation where he was aware that his face was being filmed.

“The most shocking thing was that he had no hesitation,” said Saidi “He acted as if it was something he always did.”

He then pointed out that this man’s actions were not only Islamophobic but also an attack on women.

Saidi argued, “Spitting on someone his granddaughter’s age wearing this type of clothing (hijab) is a misguided act as well as racism and Islamophobia,” and added, “There is no way he would do the same to a. man.”

She continued, “I’m lucky enough to be able to raise my voice through social media,” and added, “I hope the man who spits gets an education.”

Saidi filed a complaint against the man with the Paris police.

According to the daily Le Parisien, when the incident became known, the city of Paris said, “We condemn this act, which represents an attack on Islam and women. “This goes against the spirit of tolerance and openness that defines Paris,” he said, adding that he trusted the judicial system to take appropriate action.
