Most Wanted Man in Belgium Arrested After 10 Years on the Run
Jeton Begesi, convicted of kidnapping, hostage-taking, and rape, has been apprehended after ten years on the run. His arrest is the result of a joint operation by the Belgian Federal Police’s Fugitive Active Search Team (FAST), the antwerp police zone, and the Schoten police zone.
Begesi was sentenced on December 22, 2015, by the Antwerp Court of First Instance to a prison term of three years and four months. He had been a fugitive since that date.
In July of last year, Begesi, now 30 years old, was added to Belgium’s Most Wanted list at the request of the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office.According to the Federal Police, “This publication allowed us to gather critically important data, which was then the subject of in-depth investigation.”
