Motorola is developing a new book-style folding smartphone that moves away from its traditional vertical clamshell design, according to a teaser shared on Instagram Reel and reported by Telset. The upcoming device features a thicker, boxy silhouette with a horizontal folding structure, aligning the brand with the broader industry shift toward wider foldable screens seen in products like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Apple’s rumored iPhone Duo.

Blass Leak Reveals Edge-Inspired Camera Module and Finishes
According to a render shared on X by tipster Evan Blass and reported by Gizmochina, the device is designated as the Motorola Razr Fold and adopts a visual language similar to the Motorola Edge series. The smartphone features a rounded square camera module on the upper-left rear housing three cameras and an LED flash. The black variant utilizes a carbon fiber material finish, while the white version is expected to feature a synthetic leather coating, as reported by Ntvnews.id.
Tall Exterior Screen and Dedicated AI Shortcut Button
The hardware layout also includes an extra physical button on the left side of the body, which follows a design pattern established by the Razr 60 Ultra to serve as a shortcut for artificial intelligence features. Unlike devices that opt for wide exterior displays, Motorola has chosen an approach similar to Samsung, outfitting the Motorola Razr Fold with a tall, narrow outer screen and an inner display that forms an almost square aspect ratio. This layout supports multitasking and portrait-mode navigation, though it introduces black letterbox bars during widescreen video playback.

Moto Pen Ultra Integration and Productivity Push
While several manufacturers have dropped stylus compatibility to reduce device thickness, Motorola has integrated support for a stylus named the Moto Pen Ultra. According to Ntvnews.id, the accessory is scheduled to arrive in a Cloud Dancer shade matching the Pantone color of the year.

Portfolio Expansion Awaits Official Launch Details
The move expands Motorola’s foldable portfolio beyond its clamshell Razr models, which included the full-sized Motorola Razr Fold introduced in May. Motorola has not yet disclosed an official product name, launch schedule, or complete technical specifications for the compact book-style variant, with further details expected in upcoming announcements.
