The state government will file a fresh petition in the Mullaperiyar case in the Supreme Court today. Kerala’s request is to point out the situation where Tamil Nadu water is released at night without warning. The case will be asked to be considered immediately. The court will consider Kerala’s application on another day. Joe Joseph, a petitioner in the Supreme Court, had also given an affidavit yesterday seeking to stop the release of water. Criticisms were strong that Kerala was not taking action against Tamil Nadu’s approach of releasing water without warning. This was followed by Kerala’s move to the Supreme Court.

Today’s state cabinet meeting may discuss the issue of releasing Tamil Nadu water from Mullaperiyar without warning. Further steps will be taken to address the concerns of the people along the Periyar coast.
