The leading IPL franchise says they would have given anything to trade Rohit Sharma from Mumbai Indians. According to a Cricbus report, Delhi Capitals or Chennai Super Kings have approached Mumbai Indians for Rohit Sharma. But the management of the five-time champions rejected their offer.
“We would have given anything to trade Rohit Sharma from Mumbai Indians. But our offer was rejected and we are no longer in the race,” a franchise official told Cricbuzz.
Rohit captained MI for 10 years and won five titles. But he could not perform for the last two years. And in 2022, the team also finished last. It reached the play-offs in 2023.
Sunil Gavaskar has backed Mumbai Indians’ decision to replace Rohit with Hardik. “There are no rights and wrongs. The decision is in the best interest of the team. In the last two years, the team failed to win the league as Rohit’s contribution in the innings was not satisfactory. They were ninth or 10th in 2022 and qualified for the playoffs in 2023,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
