UK Report Calls for NDA Ban to Combat Music Industry Misogyny
Updated June 14, 2025
A recent parliamentary report in the United Kingdom is advocating for a ban on non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) within the music industry. The aim is to address what the report calls a pervasive “culture of misogyny.”
The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) released a report earlier this month titled ‘Misogyny In Music: On Repeat.’ The report identifies NDAs and confidentiality agreements as a critically important problem. According to the committee, these agreements are frequently used to silence individuals who have experienced harassment and abuse.
A government spokesperson told the Guardian that the government is considering further NDA reform. “The music industry must be free of misogyny and discrimination, and NDAs should not be misused to silence victims,” the spokesperson said.
